Privacy Policy

RegionFare compares flight and hotel prices across different countries' versions of booking sites. You do not need an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, or payment details. This page describes exactly what we do collect.

What we collect

When you run a search we process the booking-site link you paste, which contains your route, travel dates and passenger counts. We store a shortened form of your IP address (for example 203.0.113.*, with the final part removed) so we can spot abuse and count visitors, your approximate country, your selected language, and any feedback you choose to send. We also record anonymous usage events such as which pages were viewed and which searches were run. We do not collect your name, email address, payment details, or precise location.

How we determine your country

To show you prices in a sensible currency we need a rough idea of where you are. We use the country that our content delivery network (Amazon CloudFront) reports for your connection, your browser's language setting, or the origin airport in your search. This tells us a country, not a location, and we do not use GPS or precise location data.

How we use data

We use this information to run your price comparison across markets, to keep the service working and fast, to detect abuse, and to understand in aggregate which features people use. We also publish anonymised, aggregated statistics — such as which countries tend to have the cheapest fares — which never identify an individual search or person.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the services needed to operate RegionFare: Amazon Web Services (hosting and content delivery), Google Analytics (anonymous usage measurement), Google AdSense (advertising), and a commercial proxy provider used to request prices from booking sites on your behalf. Operational alerts containing the searched route, dates and your shortened IP address are sent to a private channel used by the operator to monitor the service. When you click through to book, you leave RegionFare and the booking site's own privacy policy applies.

Where your data is stored

RegionFare is hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States. If you use the service from outside the United States, the information described above is transferred to and stored there.

How long we keep it

Search records are automatically deleted after 12 months. Aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may be kept longer. Feedback you send is kept until it has been dealt with.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, or to receive a copy. Because searches are stored against a shortened IP address and no account, we may be unable to link past searches to you specifically — but tell us what you need and we will do what we can. Contact us through the feedback form on RegionFare.

Cookies and advertising

RegionFare uses cookies to operate the site, to measure usage through Google Analytics, and to serve advertisements through Google AdSense. Advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to RegionFare and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com, and you can control non-essential cookies through the consent banner shown on your first visit. Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie we use and what each one does. For more on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see Google's Privacy & Terms page.

Children

RegionFare is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
