🌍 What is Skyscanner region and why it matters

Skyscanner shows different prices by region. Learn why and how to use it for cheaper flights.

Skyscanner shows different prices depending on which country or region you search from. The "region" is simply the Skyscanner site you use — for example, skyscanner.co.uk for the United Kingdom, skyscanner.co.in for India, or skyscanner.pl for Poland. Each regional version of Skyscanner can display different fares for the exact same flight, on the same dates, with the same airline. Why do prices differ by region? Airlines and online travel agencies (OTAs) set their prices based on the market they are targeting. Factors include local demand, competition from other airlines on that route, currency exchange rates, and the average purchasing power in that country. For example, a flight from London to Bangkok might be listed at £480 on Skyscanner UK but only £410 equivalent when viewed from Skyscanner India. The airline is still selling the same seat on the same plane — they are simply pricing it differently for different markets. How regional sites work technically. When you visit a Skyscanner regional site, the platform sends your search query to its network of airline and OTA partners. The responses include prices that are often tailored to the region you are searching from. Some OTAs have contracts with airlines that include market-specific discounts. Others may convert prices from the base currency differently. The result is that the same itinerary can have a range of prices depending on where the search originates. How to take advantage of this. The manual way is to open multiple Skyscanner regional sites one by one, run the same search, and compare the results. This works but it is time-consuming — there are over 50 regional versions of Skyscanner. RegionFare automates this comparison: you paste one Skyscanner link, and the tool checks multiple regions simultaneously, returning the cheapest option within seconds. Things to keep in mind. Regional pricing differences are not guaranteed for every route. Some flights show the same price across all regions, especially popular direct routes with a single carrier. The biggest savings tend to appear on competitive long-haul routes where many OTAs and airlines compete for bookings. Currency fluctuations can also affect the price gap — a deal you see today might shift by tomorrow. For the best results, compare regions close to when you plan to book.
